Advanced Reader’s Copy Book Review: Salt Houses

A Family Tree Brought to Life…

I received an Advanced Reading Copy of Salt Houses by Hala Alyan, and I must say that I haven’t been so emotionally affected by a book in quite some time. Alayan takes subject matter that is seemingly unique to Palestinians, and allows others to compare, contrast, and find a certain healing in regard to the diasporas of their own people. The author shared the story through the eyes of different characters, and this allows the reader to connect on various levels and from different viewpoints. This was one of many endearing qualities captured in the work.

I will probably visit this title again as I’m certain I will glean even more from a reread much the way I did with Cohelo’s “The Alchemist.”
