Here’s to a productive year filled with life, love, laughter, and that bestseller that’s been hiding inside you! God bless!
Join us for service each Saturday at 4:30 pm! Once, when the people of God had become careless in their relationship with Him, the Lord rebuked them through the prophet Haggai. “Consider your ways!” (Haggai 1:5) he declared, urging them … Continue reading

After suffering from Fibromyalgia for the past several years, I’ve recently discovered yet another common symptom of this pesky ailment…Metal allergies. This newfound revelation has caused me to have to shelve my beloved wedding ring. I’ve worn the 14K gold ring that that housed the diamond worn by my mother-in-law on her own wedding day for nearly two years. All of a sudden, I developed a burn-like rash that would take weeks to heal.
Feeling defeated, I began trying other hypoallergenic ring types including stainless steel and even tungsten, but it was all in vain. Apparently, even the slightest bit of nickel will cause the same reaction. I decided to look for a vintage [faux] ivory or bone ring, which would coincide perfectly with my neo-hippie nature, however, I knew that when I was forced to conform and wear dress suits, after fives, etc., I may need another option.
Finally, I started searching for glass jewelry and found a wonderful designer in Berlin, Germany by the name Thor Karlsen. He made me a fabulous custom piece! The photo really does this ring no justice — it’s absolutely stunning and no one else in the world has one just like it! Best of all, it’s comfortable and there will be no allergic reactions!
For anyone experiencing similar symptoms, know that hope is not lost. There are alternatives to gold, silver, and other precious metals.
Last week, I started my loc journey for the second time. Since then, I’ve rebuilt my scarf collection and have embraced the tradition of headwrapping. There’s such an honor and a feeling of connection to my African antecedents when I’m wrapped. It feels as though they and God are embracing me gently. So, today being the day that we celebrate the tradition, I wish everyone who wraps in honor of culture, faith, or fashion a beautiful day!
